Farcry4 is a great game but a lot different to both primal and 5 in terms of crafting and menu. Game play is great fun as with all of them. Loads of beauty and things to do. If it's on sale, buy it. Also keep an eye out for far cry 3 as I enjoyed that the more than the rest (it's a morrowind vs oblivion vs skyrim type scenario)
Better than 3 in every way, but similar. Some people don't like it because they played 3 first and it wasn't different enough for them. Maybe consider dropping 3 and buying 2 instead. 2 is a rather different experience. It's an older game, and suffers from some technological limitations of the time.
I’ve only played 4 and 5, but I definitely prefer 5. 4 is cool, but I found navigating the mountains so damn frustrating that I feel like 2/3rds of my play time was spent wandering around finding that one spot where you can grapple at a mountain. I also just really like the whole “fighting back against religious extremism” thing of Far Cry 5.

I liked Far cry 1 more than either 2 or 3. It had a better story then either of those and the gameplay was tough as nails for a singleplayer game. I had loads of fun. Far cry 2 got so boring after 4 hours and had a CoD-like story without the cutscenes and it was stretched out to last the entire game. Far cry 3 was a lot more fun, but I still
Far Cry 3 had my favorite story, seem to be more relatable than the other's at least for me, and I could see the story be more plausible than the other games.
